Another terror attack and another new outfit. An unheard of outfit called as the Deccan Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for the deadly attacks in Mumbai. The IB however does not rule out groups like the SIMI or its version 2 the Indian Mujahideen to be operating in another name. The modus operandi is very similar to what the SIMI had done earlier. When the heat was stepped up on the outfit, it had revamped into the Indian Mujahideen.
The Indian Mujahideen, which has been suspected of carrying out the Hyderabad blasts that claimed 16 lives, was trying to set up a terror outfit to take care of its operations in southern India, according to officials in the National Investigation Agency.
Even as the police force and the Intelligence Bureau verify the Deccan Mujahideen's claims of orchestrating the Mumbai terror attacks, they are not ruling out the involvement of the Indian Mujahideen, an offshoot of the Students Islamic Movement of India.The IB points out that the e-mail sent by the Indian Mujahideen in September had made revealed their animosity towards Mumbai and the Anti Terrorist Squad. The IM, in an email sent out in September, had warned the ATS.
Intelligence Bureau officials say the Mumbai terror attacks were the handiwork of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Tayiba in association with some 'home-grown terrorist groups' from India.
The email claiming the responsibility for the November 26, Mumbai terror strikes was sent from Pakistan and not from Russia, said ethical hacker and cyber security expert Ankit Fadia.
He said the terrorists, claiming themselves to be from a hitherto unknown Deccan Mujahideen outfit, took the coastal route and landed at Sasoon Dock. From there they changed over to boats to reach the shore, he said.
The Deccan Mujahideen which had claimed responsibility for the Mumbai terror attacks is at it again. A second e-mail threatening to blow up the Bombay Stock Exchange and the Delhi airport has been intercepted by the Gujarat police.
